On the 10th day of Christmas, FFF shared with me... stories of expectant mummies!

2017 saw even more growth for our amazing Dream Girls project with 313 young women joining the project.

This programme, fully supported by the The Aminata Maternal Foundation , involves a group of young, expectant mothers aged between 13 and 19 who are experiencing their first pregnancy and child birth. The girls come from Freetown in Sierra Leone and the extended Western Urban area, many have been abandoned by their families. The girls come to Aberdeen Women’s Centre to take part in a peer to peer networking group where they receive support, sexual education, counselling, pre and post-natal care and most importantly an education on how to care for themselves and their babies.

October 2017 saw a record breaking month for the maternity ward at AWC with 282 babies being born!
